Barbie's 50th Anniversary Exhibition........

As a typical girl, I had many barbie dolls which I would play with for hours, I made my own clothes for them, cut their hair and pierced their noses - after I got my hands on my uncle's copy of The Sex Pistols - The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle!!
Barbie provided me with 1000's of hours of dressing up.
Anyway, I'm so excited about the upcoming exhibition at Federation Square from June 26th - July 12th.
Connex have a competion which closes on June 5th - All you have to do to enter is send in a photo via email of Barbie at a Connex, tram, train or bus location to competitions@connex.com.au to win a double pass to the exhibition and a limited edition barbie doll to commemorate Barbie's 50th Anniversary.
It doesn't say anything about multiple entries so I think i'll enter a few. I took a pic on the train the other morning with Barbie holding onto the hand rails! - I got a few strange looks - Fingers crossed that I win - I think there are 5 prizes in all.

There's a tag on your sleeve!!!!

With winter lurking around the corner, I've noticed an alarming trend and that is: People leaving the 100% Cashmere tag on the sleeve of their new coat.
You see a lot of this on public transport in the colder months. It makes me wonder if the person simply has no idea and that it's part of the garment or if they want all and sundry to know that they can afford cashmere. I should carry a quick-unpick with me and offer to remove it for them free of charge - ha ha - I mean, it's pretty obvious to me that it's a temporary thing as it's only stitched on the four corners and not entirely like the tag inside the garment on the collar. I'm not sure how I'd go approaching someone without sounding incredibly smug and smartassy. "Um, excuse me Madam/Sir, could I unburden your coat of that tag on your sleeve?" ha ha - No, I don't think there's any approach that wouldn't be interpreted as obnoxious and brazen - Oh well - I'll just have to suffer in silence :/
My outfit:

When I Grow Up I Want To Be Stylish.....................

When I get older I'm going to be a stylish granny as opposed to the tracksuit wearing grannies who frequent the pokies on pension day. I say this because recently I saw a very elegantly dressed elder personage and I was duly impressed. Just because one is aging doesn't mean their standards should slip. Anyway, I shouldn't have any excuse because by the time I'm 70 I hope to have amassed stocks of bags, coats, shoes etc, etc..........

Dress from Salvos
Scarf made by me
Jeans by Grab

Car Trouble....................

What an expensive morning!!! On our way to the city, the alternator decided to die and the gods must have been semi smiling upon us because the car died at a most opportune spot. Thirty seconds later and the situation could have been very nasty indeed. The Racv guy arrived almost immediately, replaced the alternator and $560 later (including joining up to Racv) was on his merry way.
The cute picture of sheep which some may call graffiti/street art/vandalism was on a wall beside where the car broke down. I like it very much, it's cute and witty. If you cannot see the words clearly, it says "the lord is my shepherd, I shall not think"
My outfit shot was taken on Thursday evening and I'm wearing a dress by Valleygirl - big surprise!, Pea coat by H&M, leggings from Target, hat from Sportsgirl.

Lula Magazine..........

This afternoon I finally got a chance to look at Lula Magazine in the flesh and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It is printed on lovely paper, nice and thick, beautiful editorials and interesting stories, without all the fluff one usually finds in fashion magazines. I would call it an "intelligent" fashion magazine. I thought the price was fair too, $15 Australian.
My Autumnal outfit consists of:
Skirt by Shakuhachi which I absolutely love because it feels as though it were made especially for me.
Leggings from Target
Boots from a nameless store in South Melbourne
Top from Metallicus
Jacket from Quick Brown Fox
